In the history of ODI cricket, Mohammed Shami is only the second bowler to ever take three straight four-plus wicket hauls. After returning 4/40, 4/16, and 5/69 in three straight innings during the 2019 World Cup, this is his second such run. The only person who has accomplished this feat three times is Waqar Younis (twice in 1990 and once in 1994).
This was Sri Lanka's second World Cup innings with five ducks (the most ever), having previously recorded five against the same opponent in Johannesburg during the 2003 tournament. The only other team to accomplish this undesirable feat twice in World Cups is Scotland.
